Terms and Conditions (Reviewed December 2023)

Moss Tutoring reserves the right to change these terms and conditions at any time.

We will also notify you of any changes to the Terms and Conditions via our Facebook and Instagram pages and website or in person.

By continuing to use services provided by Moss Tutoring you are agreeing to comply with and be bound by the following terms and conditions.

Your decision to continue to visit and make use of this site, and book tuition services, after such changes have been made validates your acceptance of the new Terms and Conditions. We ask that you check this agreement for such changes on a regular basis. If you do not agree to these terms please cease using Moss Tutoring LTD services immediately.

Please note Moss Tutoring cannot be held responsible for grades which do not meet the student’s or point person’s expectation.

Please be aware that I am unable to tutor for longer than our agreed time as this has a knock-on effect to my other students and schedule. Text message and email reminders will be sent three hours before a session via the TutorBird software. Please let me know by 4pm should your child not be able to attend. If a pupil arrives later than their allocated time, the session will still run from the agreed times and the usual charge will apply. However, I will only wait for ten minutes for your arrival before cancelling and counting it as a charged session. If I arrive at your house with no prior communication that your child cannot attend for whatever reason, then the session will be counted as part of your prepaid sessions. This is due to the time that has gone into planning your child’s session and then driving to your house in rush hour which can take longer at this time.

This tutoring agreement may be terminated at any time by any party, but if it is the client, they must give at least two weeks’ notice. If we must end the tutoring relationship for some reason, we will do our very best to give sufficient notice and provide referrals if requested.

If you have block paid and terminate the tutoring agreement I will refund any unused lessons providing 24 hours’ notice is given before the next scheduled tuition lesson. If you terminate the agreement with a tuition lesson in less than 24 hours we are unable to give a full refund for that lesson, the £10 cancellation fee will apply for that lesson.

If you have block paid and Moss Tutoring terminate the tutoring agreement, then we will issue a refund for any unused tuition lessons.

Payment is made via:

Booking a block of sessions and pay for them all upfront. These will be in half termly blocks as of the Hertfordshire County Council term dates.

Payment Types:

Paypal transfer via the invoice sent;

OR

Bank transfer

If payment is not received by 4pm on the day of the first session, then tuition will not take place.

Fees: – please see the Fees page for further information.

Cancellation:
All sessions are paid up front for a full half term, and are non-refundable unless the tutor has to cancel, by which a session will then be in credit. The tutor will email all parents at the start of any half term with any dates that they cannot do, such as bank holidays and own holiday dates.

If you need to cancel a session, then please contact us by email by 4pm at enquiries@mosstutoring.co.uk.

Of course, we understand that children do get poorly and that circumstances can change suddenly. Please email us to discuss this further as we can always rearrange a one off session or offer an online session instead.

If a student fails to arrive for a session without prior notification, and the tutor has arrived, then the full amount will be payable.

Damages:

The Parent/Guardian is responsible for any damage caused by the child and shall be liable to pay the full cost of repair and / or replacement of any equipment or furnishings damaged beyond repair with reference to new equipment of the same or nearest available specification.

Tuition arrangements

The Parent/Guardian is responsible for ensuring that a member of the household over 18 is within sight or sound of where the tuition is taking place, with this preferably being the Parent/Guardian.

If the tuition is face to face, at present the tutor is only able to come to the student’s place of residence. The tutor will need a quiet location in the property where the tutor and pupil will be visible to other members of the household. It is not, however,  a requirement that this member of the household is in the session itself. Sessions will be delivered using a Chromebook with work completed either on an iPad with an Apple Pencil or using pen/pencil and paper. Other resources such as sand and PlayDoh are used to create a more sensory learning experience dependant on your child’s needs. Work will then be photographed (without your child in) or screenshot and placed into a Google Drive which will be sent to you via email so you are able to view what your child has been doing in each session.

If the tuition is delivered online, then the pupil will need a quiet location to work in and the Parent/Guardian must be within sight or sound. Online sessions will be delivered using Google Meet so this must be downloaded via the App Store for Apple devices or on Google Play if using a tablet. There will be no need to pay for a subscription to this as this service is free. It is also a requirement that this is done prior to the session and that the student has a level of familiarisation of how the app works. Please also ensure that the device that the tutoring is being delivered on is fully charged or attached to a mains plug if using a PC. Work will also be screenshot and placed into a Google Drive as per the face to face agreement.

Sessions must remain uninterrupted unless there is an urgent or emergency reason.

The tutor has an enhanced DBS certificate on the update service and in date safeguarding and PREVENT training certificates which are available upon request. Our safeguarding policy is also available upon request.

Snacks and drinks

Unless there is a medical need, please could snacks be eaten before or after the session to minimise distraction and maximise learning time. Drinks are absolutely fine, but please could they be in a covered cup or water bottle to avoid spillages due to a Chromebook, iPad and Apple Pencil being used as part of sessions, as well as resources that have either been purchased or created by the tutor.

GDPR

We have a GDPR policy available on request which we will adhere to at all times.
